The time of reckoning is the time of death or a time of judgment.
At the pearly gates, God may ask you about your life or tell you about your life and how you were compassionate and good so you go to heaven. Or God may decide that you will not be blessed by heaven because you did not do on earth what He wanted you to do.
Your time of reckoning comes after a year of working yourself to the bone. This does not mean that you need to die to learn of a major change in your perception of how to live your life. Perhaps your major discovery or awakening is that you were not meant to work yourself to the bone, but to love the lord, rejoice, be happy, and share joy with others.
A blind woman in Texas became so distraught that she simply threw her hands up into the air and, crying, begged God to tell her where her talents lay, what she should do. Immediately her hands and forearms grew warm/hot, and she understood that she should work with her hands. Since then she has sewn over 500 quilts and become quite a cook too.
The day when she was crying and asking was her day of understanding, of reckoning what she could and should to do be a happy contributing member of society.
SIDE NOTE: I doubt that a particular twelfth of the population faces its day of reckoning this year. So don't worry yourself over finding an "Aha! That's it!". The rest of us also have a fair chance of making a significant personal discovery this year too, even if it was not in our "horrorscopes".
