Any C.V tips to make a 16 year old, seem like a good candidate for part time jobs?

I know it's hard for 16 year old to get a part time job, but i really need one, I've just written my c.v and am about to dispatch it to most stores. Before i do, do you reckon i should write a cover letter...if so what should i put on it (other than times that i can work and saying thank you for looking at the application). Any helpful tips for places in which i should apply, or how to make my c.v better would be fantastic!Any C.V tips to make a 16 year old, seem like a good candidate for part time jobs?
